Wikipedia's liberal explanation of Bug Out Bag "A bug-out
bag is a portable kit popular in the survivalism subculture that
contains the items one would require to survive for seventy two hours
when evacuating from a disaster. It is also known as a 72-hour kit."
In the real world the Bug out bag is utilized by more average
citizens that "Survivalist", just ask the folks in New Orleans.
"So you have collected the emergency
gear you deem necessary, now you need to keep the gear in one easy to
carry and grab location."
A
Gear Bag -
Backpack or Bug out Bag is what
the "experts" suggest you keep your emergency equipment in for handy
and easy to grab container. Using a gear bag will allow you to
keep the gear that is specific to your potential emergency situation.
For example I carry one in my police cruiser that has extra magazines
for my handgun and carbine, pepper spray, handcuffs, basic first aid
kit and other related gear. This bag is set up with gear I might need
when off duty and find myself responding to a call out or if assisting
a motorist happens to go bad. I carry another that is used as a
"Manly" diaper bag that holds the things I need if my young granddaughter are with me. If you live on the coast you would keep the
necessary emergency gear that you would need in the event of a fast
evacuation. I have one set up in my wife's, daughter's and daughter in
law's cars with winter survival items in the event they break down in
cold weather. It has items such as flashlights, matches, personal
pocket warmer packets, blanket, water and food bars as well as a basic
first aid kit. The items are picked to help keep them safe while
waiting for the cavalry to come rescue, (that's my job as husband,
father and grandfather). Recently we assisted a friend who lives in a
big city that has been known to have a riot every now and then to set
up a
Backpack style bug out bag to keep at his food store. We set up an Eberlestock
Gunslinger backpack with a Remington 870 shotgun, extra shells,
emergency clothing, flashlights, road flares ( they make a great quick
flash in the bad guys eyes), emergency water and food and local maps
etc. The reasons and type of gear that is stored in a bug out bag is
only limited to your needs and budget.

Special Operations backpacks display versatility and flexibility
for a variety missions, and go far beyond anything in prior
existence in terms of their function, features, and design. At
their heart is a philosophy that seeks agility and performance,
and a fundamental belief in the importance of quality. We know
where these packs are bound for. We expect them to be reliable in
the far and desolate reaches of our planet, because we care about
the people that will be using them. They are an ideal bug out bag
for extreme situations and when the end user needs to have a long
gun within easy reach while still keeping their hands empty when
the long gun is not in use. |

| Please note that there are many
inexpensive backpacks and bags available from the Mart-Mart
Stores. However we strongly believe that a quality packing system
is as important as the items you have in them. Your disaster pack
or bug-out bag items are no good to you if they are lost due to a
hole in a poorly constructed backpack. |
